WHAT HAPPENED?
Palmer made a sensational move from Manchester City to Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a reported fee of £42.5m ($53.8m). The talented attacking midfielder has been a massive success with the Blues, scoring 39 goals and providing 21 assists in 74 games.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite his performances, Chelsea have not been on top form and have been inconsistent through the last few months. Gallas has now claimed that Palmer will 'want to see if he can win trophies' with the Blues before deciding on his future. The former Premier League defender added that his departure this summer is not a topic of discussion.

Speaking to Slingo, Gallas said: "Chelsea fans don’t need to worry about Cole Palmer this summer, he wants to see if he can win trophies with Chelsea. He would only leave if he thought it was the right time and that won’t be this summer.
"Cole Palmer’s performances have dropped when you look at what he was doing last season and even at the start of this season compared to now. I think he needs a rest. That’s why you have a big squad, so you can give your players a rest when they have so many games to play.
"It’s been very intense for Cole Palmer and I think he could benefit from being on the bench for a game, he has to be managed well by Enzo Maresca. Palmer might benefit by coming off the bench in a game and having an impact in the last 20 minutes, he looks tired and he needs to be managed."

WHAT NEXT FOR PALMER?
The 22-year-old has certainly seen a drop in form. However, he is key to Enzo Maresca's plans for the rest of the season and will start most of Chelsea's games. He will be in action next when Chelsea takes on Southampton on Tuesday, February 25.
